Panagallu Shri Chaya Someswara Swamy

These are the ruins of the most ancient temple said to have been constructed by Kundooru Cholas during 1025 A.D. Today we consider that we are most modern. Any person who visits the places should necessarily accept that we are no way in comparison with the civilization of our ancestors. This is evidently seen from the structures which are available to us today. These ruins saw several generations - they saw the great rulers - they say the great worshippers - they saw the original Hindu Culture and tration - they say and experienced the polished strokes of the artists who struggled to carve so nicely with all unbeatable craftman ship. They threw a challenge onto us - onto the next many generations - they established their superiority and engineering command - they established their command on the subjects of spiritual, socio, economic sciences - perhaps none of us can dare to take up such a work - though we are prepared surely we can not afford spending crores of rupees for such a small piece of artistic excellency in a tiny village. ONE THING IS CERTAIN - A REAL HUMAN BEING SHED TEARS AT LEAST ONCE TO SEE THE FATE OF THE STRUCTURES AND THE RUINS.

a View from the centre hall of the temple

Though we spend a few crores, surely we can not get such carvings in such a polised state which stood for over 1000 years so far. Probably the life of our houses may last for a 100 years or so. It is a carving on a single monolithic stone.

The top of the centre hall and the figures could not be identified due to partial destruction.

About the Holy Place narrated by the Government of Andhra Pradesh.

Palem Shri Narasimha Swamy Kshetram - Palem in Nalgonda Dist

This is the picture taken in front of the temple. Myself, my wife Sow Padmavathy; Shri Srinivasa Rao and his wife Sow Kavita; Shri Narasimham and his wife Sow Satya Lakshmi and their only son Chi Sai Mohan; Shri Parimi Seetarama Sastry; Shri Varanasi Narayana Rao visited the Holy Place on 11th of January 2009 . It was a Full moon day and a Sunday. We heard about this 17th Centurey shrine and it was our desire to take the blessings of the Lord and we are fortunate to have been blessed with the darshan in Dhanur Maasam and that too on a Full Moon day associated with Sunday. The place is around 120 kilometers from Hyderabad and upto Nakarikal on Vijayawada Highway to a distance of 110 kilometers and another 10 kilometers a little interior. According the History of the place, the Holy Shrine was found in excavations as per the directions of Lord in the dreams of a devotee. What is unique in the temple is Lord Garuda sitting on the Dhwaja Stamba which can not be seen elsewhere. It is believed that those who have desires to visit the shrine and get the sacred thread tied to the hand while praying the Lord for fulfillment of the desires and it is strongly believed that the desires gets fulfilled in the shortest possible time. As such the Shrine is named as Kankana Shri Nrisimha Swamy.

This is the Idol of the Holy Nag - the Snake and some one from USA appears to have constructed this beneath Aswatha and Neem trees.

This is the front view of the temple after entering into the complex.

This is Garuda - the Holy Eagle Bird - the Vehicle of Lord Vishnu sitting on the Dhwaja Stamba.

The is the temple top with a Sudarshana Chakra.

Foreword

It has been my desire to share my experiences while travelling to places in India and outside too and most of you must have have been in receipt of my mails from time to time for the past two decades or so. I recollect a few mails relating to my travel in Nalgonda District of Andhra Pradesh when I was blessed with a visit to the Holy Jeedigunta Shrines and also Holy Mastya Giri Nrisimha Swamy temple - perhaps the only species of Fish with Thiru Shri Vishnu symbols on their fore head. I am just trying to retrieve my past mails relating to this particular visit and I hope to place before you soon. In the meantime I am placing information relating to my visits to Palem Shri Narasimha Swamy temple of 17th Century, Shri Chaya Someswara Swamy temple of 10th Century, Panagallu Pachala Someswara Swamy Temple, and Cheruvu Gattu Shri Parvati Jadala Shri Ramalingeswara Swamy temple - all of them being unique - surely make us to shed tears to go back to many centuries recollecting the past glory and leave the places with a heavy heart of grief after seeing the ruins. As usual and as was done in other places, the Hindu Culture and Tradition and the excellent artistic treasures were destroyed to the ground by the invaders. They could have atleast appreciated the stone structures - had they been with any little amount of respect to the art and culture of ancient India. Today the ruins make us to feel that our ancestors lived more in a purposefully dignified manner and their lives were REAL LIVES. It is next to impossible to create even a small structure of that value today - though we are rich enough financially. Each temple possess artistic stone carvings - the remains of which might cost a few crores for each temple in each village of India. "Who Said India is Poor ? "
